An Electric James Bond? 0

An-Electric-James-BondJames Bond has it all doesn’t he? A cool job, an unimaginable amount of gadgets, gorgeous women and some of the finest Aston Martins ever produced. But, what is the future of James Bonds cars going to be like?

Well, according to Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer, James Bond will soon be driving all electric cars.  But don’t worry, Bond won’t be chasing after bad guys in a Renault Zoe or Nissan Leaf, it will be in an electric powered Aston martin. The CEO, in a recent CNBC interview stated that the electric car will soon be adopted by the masses, it will be as inevitable as ‘death and tax’. Aston Martin will therefore be the same.

James Bond has been driving Aston Martins since the third film, Goldfinger was released in 1964. Sean Connery as James Bond was first seen driving a DB5 and now, as Daniel Craig, he sports a DB10. There has been a huge array of beautiful vehicles driven by the secret agent. So, if we are to believe Aston Martin, it will be inevitable that sooner or later, the British icon will drive an electric car.

There are benefits to this car which go far beyond environmental concerns though. The electric cars do provide an enormous amount of torque and acceleration is much quicker than a fuel powered car. As well as that, just think how quiet the car could sneak up on its enemies during a chase. Even the mileage isn’t even that bad but, what would happen when 007 needs to recharge, we don’t think a bad guy would deliberately hang around for four hours for the chase to restart again.

We don’t know how long it will be until James Bond will be driving an all electric Aston Martin but, what can be taken from this is that the electric car market is getting ever increasingly popular. So popular that it is seeping into popular culture already…
