The Grand Tour set to air in November 0

So, after all the controversy, hype and intrigue, the new vehicle of the former Top Gear trio is set to air on November 18th. The Grand Tour featuring Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond will become available on Amazon Prime from that date with subsequent episodes aired each week over a twelve week period.

The trio left the BBC after Clarkson was sacked for punching a producer last year. The new rebranding of their car magazine show has been hotly anticipated ever since Amazon announced it had secured the three popular presenters.

The first episode of The Grand Tour will be 70 minutes long and will be partly filmed in California next month. The studio scenes – made famous through Top Gear – are being shot in a giant tent that is travelling round the world. The tent has already visited Johannesburg, but the opening episode is supposed to be based in the United States. Coinciding with the launch episode, Amazon released a teaser trailer on YouTube and according to The Sun, Hollywood ‘A-listers’ Matt Damon and Charlize Theron are amongst the guests in the first season

The Vice-President of Amazon Prime Video EU, Jay Marine said: “Customers have been desperate to find out when they can catch their favourite team back on screen, so we are very excited to announce the launch date of one of the most globally anticipated shows of 2016.

“The guys have been having a blast filming the show around the world.”

At the Edinburgh TV Festival last month, series producer Any Wilman said: “Like them or loath them, they are still doing their thing.”

Delegates were shown clips of the forthcoming show which showed May driving with a broken arm, Clarkson motoring on the Game of Thrones set and Hammond waking up on a buggy to find it has been hoisted into the air.

Also included as part of the footage was the three racing Maseratis, a Rolls Royce, and a Porsche, as well as Clarkson on a jet ski.

The team are contracted to make 12 shows a year over a three year period.
