Thousands turn out for McLaren Employee Motor Show 0

Last weekend, the McLaren Technology Centre was host to an exhibition put on by McLaren employees as they showcased their motors to the public. The event was an unmitigated success as thousands turned up to have a gawp at more than 200 of the company’s exclusive vehicles.

More than 3,000 attended the event at the Woking headquarters, the sixth time it has been staged annually since 2010. Initially staged as a day for McLaren employees past and present and their families and guests, the event has constantly proved a popular draw.

There were over 200 vehicles on display, amongst them former F1 cars, road vehicles, and kit cars. Guests were also entertained with by bicycle stunt displays, a pit stop challenge, helicopter rides and a race simulator.

The event helped raise money for The Peter Jordan Fund which raises funds for The Brain Tumour Charity, and SATRO, a charity which aids young people to pursue a career in engineering, maths, technology and science.

McLaren team members were on hand to meet visitors and a ‘Pure McLaren’ garage set-up was on display.

Simon Wait, a representative of the McLaren activities and charities group which put on the event said: “As McLaren has grown, so has the Employee Motor Show which is a fun opportunity for employees to showcase their passion for all things cars, racing and technology to their fellow colleagues and families.

“There’s been huge support for this year’s event, which is run by and for employees, many if whom have moved to or live in the surrounding area.

“A huge amount of hard work has gone in behind the scenes, along with support from the company, to make it such a success – for which we are incredibly grateful to everyone involved.

“It’s a privilege for McLaren to give something back to our employees and an opportunity for them to proudly show their families and friends where they work.

“Most importantly, we’re proud that, through this event, we’re able to support two very important charity organisations close to our heart who will benefit directly from the generosity of our people.”
