TVR Also Chooses Wales for Site of New FactoryThe sounds of the valley will now include the revving of another luxury engine… and presumably still Tom Jones.

The new TVR will be built in its new factory in the Ebbw Vale Enterprise Zone in South Wales, as part of a five-year, £30 million investment plan. The southern Welsh location managed to beat three other competing locations around the British Isles in order to claim its large investment plan.

After signing an agreement on the 18th March and being confirmed on the 22nd of the same month, the investment is only adding to the already growing Welsh automotive manufacturing industry. In choosing Wales as a site for the TVR factory, Lee Edgar TVR chairman, stated that it was a ‘fantastic opportunity both for TVR and the Welsh Government.’ Furthermore, Edgar said that ‘South Wales is becoming a major hub for automotive and motorsport technology and development and the area is a serious opportunity for business development and job creation.’ This is especially true considering the creation of the Aston Martin factory in Wales for 2017.

With the way that TVR operate, there won’t be a huge amount of jobs or income collected. But, it is hoped that there will be 150 new jobs created and almost a £320 million turnover. Rejuvenated under Lee Edgar, the TVR project has had 350 orders for the new concept car and as a result, it has been rumoured that the order book is completely full up until 2018.

Good job Wales then I guess for securing another big motoring name.
