Formula One: The worst teams 0

Gary Brabham (AUS) Life L190. Brazilian Grand Prix, Sao Paulo, Brazil, 25 March 1990.

Continuing our look back at some of the worst teams to grace the hallowed tarmac of Formula 1, our retrospective today shines its less than illustrious spotlight on…

Number #09 – Life

The springy, upbeat name was the only positive for this stinker. The Life team was a total catastrophe from start to finish.

The Italian outfit used its own W12 3.5-litre engine and to say it wasn’t up to much would be flattering it. Life attempted to qualify for 14 races during the 1990 season – it failed every time.

The car was slow, heavy, unreliable and slower than a Formula 3 car. One qualifying session saw it notch an embarrassing 400 yards due to striking mechanics not filling it with oil.

Life withdrew before the end of the season and disappeared into the Formula 1 paddock in the sky, never to be seen again.
