Motorist crashes his new car after ‘not reading handbook’ 0

It was only four hours after he’d driven his brand-spanking new car out of the dealership forecourt. Yep, that’s how long it took this unfortunate motorist to completely stack his new set of wheels.

According to Devon and Cornwall Police, the Volvo collided with a slow-moving articulated lorry after the driver had attempted to figure out the vehicle’s cruise control by examining the steering wheel buttons while driving.

“The moral of the story is read your handbook”, the police twitter account added.

The car had been travelling at 70mph (the national motorway speed limit) when the shunt occured; the Volvo’s collision avoidance system only works at speeds under 35mph.

Fortunately, other than the driver’s pride, no-one was hurt in the collision.
