2016 MG GS SUV full specs announced 0

The MG GS SUV is set to be the companies first ever SUV, was first revealed at the Shanghai motor show in 2013 and is set for a 2016 release in the UK. First impressions of the MG share similarities to the recently released MG3 and MG6, with styling of the three cars being completed between the companies British and Chinese teams respectively.


2016-MG-GS-SUVMeasuring in at 4500 millimetres in length, 1855mm in height and 1675mm in height, which means the MG GS SUV is set to be 73mm longer, 46mm wider and 8mm lower than the Volkswagen Tiguan.

All of this will sit on a wheelbase that has been developed in partnership with SAIC, boasting a wheelbase of 2650mm, 46mm longer than the before mentioned Volkswagen Tiguan.


Only one engine has been confirmed for the MG GS SUV to date, which is the all new 2.0 litre four cylinder turbo petrol engine that can deliver 217 break horse power and 258 pound foot of torque. This will be in partnership with a six dual clutch automatic gearbox which has been pencilled for launch, but buyers will have a choice of two or for wheel drive.

Some other engines are likely to follow though, with a 1.5 litre for cylinder direct injection petrol engine, which is already being used in the Chinese MG models, along with the 1.8 litre diesel.

Equipment & Cost

No details of trims that will be available have been released, but the previous MC3 and MC6 models have been well equipped so it’s more than likely that the MG GS SUV will follow in a similar suit.

Pricing details are yet to be disclosed, but similar to the trims the GS is set to follow the MC3 and MC6 models be priced at competitive price, along with no discounts having yet to be announced.
