2016 Volkswagen Touran set to go on sale this December 0

The new Touran was first unrevealed at the Geneva motor March earlier this year, the Touran is set to feature between the SV and Sharan models in the current Volkswagen range. The Volkswagen Touran is a much sharper model though, taking a likeness from the Passat and the Golf SV.

Engine

vw-touran-2016Upon release the in the UK, the Volkswagen Touran will feature two petrol and three diesel engines. All said to much more economical than the current models available, this is due to reductions in weight and major improvement to the aerodynamics tied with mechanical advancements too.

The standard options ids the 1.2 litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine, with a more powerful unit available in the form of the 148 break horse power 1.4 litre turbo petrol engine. This is along with the three diesel options available, from the 108bhp 1.6 TDI, 148bhp and 187bhp 2.0 litre diesel models.

The least power diesel in the Volkswagen Touran range is also the most economical, with fuel economy figures of 70.6 miles per gallon. The most economical petrol in the line up is the 148bhp version which can produce 52.3mpg; this is when mated to the optional seven speed dual clutch automatic gearbox.

Equipment

The Volkswagen Touran will include much more space inside the cabin, with around 12 centre meters overall added to the length of the car along with 11cm added to the length of the wheelbase. Volkswagen has also developed a new folding seat set up, which when used will produce a totally flat floor.

The Touran model will available in both five-seat and seven-seat models, and Volkswagen have claimed the former mentioned will contain the largest luggage compartments in its class. These new models will also include alot of safety equipment; this includes adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, automatic post collision breaking assistant as standard, and pre crash proactive occupant protection.

Cost

Price for the new Volkswagen Touran start at £22,240 for the 1.2 litre model in the entry level S trim, and will rise to £30,510 for the top models in the Touran range in the form of the 2.0 TDI.
