Can the 208 GTi help revive Peugeot 0

The Peugeot 208 GTi and the Peugeot XY have been revealed ahead of the Paris Motor Show later this month. Being French, both cars are expected to make a great impact at the highly anticipated event.

Perhaps the event will help the brand revive itself after a couple of horrible years in terms of sales. The European car market is in great decline for mass producers. The reason is mainly down to the Euro Zone crisis with many families struggling with debt. Maybe Peugeot will ignite the hot hatchback segment with these two vehicles.

It has been done before. The Peugeot 205 GTi achieved great success in recent years after being newly released.
Customers within this particular market are certain to take interest. The Peugeot 208 GTi has seen it’s weight drop by 165 kg when compared to the 207 GTi. The 1.6 litre turbo engine inside is able to achieve 197 BHP along with 275 nm of torque. This amounts to a 22 BHP increase when compared to the Peugeot 207 GTi. The vehicle will be connected to a six speed manual gearbox. There has been no news on the automatic variant yet.

The performance of the car is a big deal for the French company. The car now comes with an anti roll bar, stiffer suspension and firmer and more responsive steering.

There are set to be special editions of the vehicles when they are first released. 50 of them will be coloured in Satin Pearlescent White with 17 inch black wheels. The wonderful contrast of two delightful colours on such dominant features of the vehicle will make the car wonderfully attractive. To celebrate the fact the Peugeot 208 GTI was made in France, the car will have the French flag placed upon the grille. This special edition will also come with a satellite navigation system.

Every unit will however receive a chrome exterior trim along with a chequered motif upon the grille. The trapezoidal exhaust pipes will make the car look more modern and sporty.

The inside of the car will contain Club Nappa leather along with Caro Weave with splendid red stitching that contrasts well. The gear knob is made out of aluminium. The steering wheel is flat bottomed giving the car a more enhanced type of look about it. The car has a beautiful blend of colours which is very pleasing on the eye. The Peugeot 208 GTi could be exactly what he struggling French company are looking for.
