New Griffith sportscar launched by resurrected TVR 0

Like a phoenix rising from the flames, TVR has been resurrected and turned out a brand new Griffith.

The new sports car, unveiled at the recent Goodwood Revival, is a two seater, has a carbon chassis, composite body and a number of aluminium panels.

There are plenty of of nods towards the original Griffith, none more so than the classic sports silhouette.

The new TVR’s striking looks are enhanced by the huge air intakes, side-exit exhausts, swooping curves and a sharp angular rear bumper design.

Weighing in at 1,250kg with 50:50 weight distribution, the fullest possible performance can be expected from the naturally aspirated V8 under the bonnet.

Paired with the V8 is a six-speed transmission with multi-plate clutch sending power to the rear wheels.

This should enable the Griffin to leap from 0-60mph in under four seconds and hit a zippy top speed of 200mph, thanks to the 700lb-ft of max torque.

Following the reveal, Les Edgar said: “Today’s unveiling is the culmination of nearly three years of tireless work by the team, and we’re all proud to be able to show the new TVR Griffith to the world.

“This is unmistakably a TVR, a British muscle car that’s as awesome and brutal as it is charismatic and refined.

“Importantly, the new TVR offers levels of technical sophistication, comfort, reliability and practicality never seen by the brand before.”

TVR will produce 500 versions of the Griffith Launch Edition; production is set to start in late 2018.

There will be several different colour options, bespoke 19-inch alloy front wheels plus 20-inch rear alloy wheels.

Prices for the Launch Edition are set to start from £90,000.
