The Lamborghini Centenario the Star of Geneva 0
The 2016 Geneva International Show is all but over now. However, with all the beauty of the show, there is one moment that motor enthusiasts cannot stop thinking about. That moment, if you are unfamiliar with the show is the moment Stephan Winkelmann (president and CEO of Lamborghini) unveiled the new Centenario. The Centenario, has been created to celebrate 100 years of founder Ferruccio Lamborghini, and what a birthday present that car is.
As you’d expect from Lamborghini, the car encapsulates beauty and pushes the aesthetic boundaries of all other previous models of the brand. But, under the exterior the car boasts a 6.5 litre V12 engine with a modification to the power making it stronger than the previous Aventador. As a result of this, Lamborghini has created and released their most powerful engine to date. As well as this, the Centenario, with its carbon fibre body, has shed enough weight whilst adding more power, is now able to reach a top speed of 217 mph and, accelerate from 0-62mph in 2.8 seconds. The car can go fast, it can go very fast but, with the brakes being upgraded, it can break from 62-0mph in 30 meters.
This has been a huge undertaking for the engineers at Lamborghini but, what a result they have accomplished and machine they have created. Stephan Winkelmann describes the car which ‘perfectly combines tradition with innovation.’ They are two fitting words for this masterpiece in engineering and manufacturing. But, sadly for the general public there will only be 40 Centenario’s created. They will be equally split as coupes and roadsters but, every model has already been sold. As well as that though, the Centenario will also cost a cool £1.64 million.
Heavy price tag for a beautiful piece of machinery.
