The new Honda Civic Type R at the Paris Motor Show 0

This year’s Paris Motor Show civic-type-r-rear_3055023cwill offer a close insight into the production version of the new Honda Civic Type R.

We will just see the concept version of the car at the motor show later this week. It will definitely reveal clues as to how the final Type R will turn out.

The concept will follow the one shown at the Geneva Motor Show earlier in March. There hasn’t been much change in terms of the radical styling we saw on the last vehicle. Many predict that the style will stay the same when the production version is released next year.

Perhaps the most significant changes on the Honda Civic Type R are the technical aspects. It is expected to be developed to a point where it is able to achieve the record of being the fastest front-wheel-drive car around the Nürburgring track. The Renault Megane 275 Trophy-R currently holds that record. It managed to record a lap time of 7 minutes and 54.3 seconds.

We will see a brand new turbocharged 2.0 litre i-VTEC petrol engine within the car, being one of Honda’s next generation Earth Dreams Technology creations. There have been no official statistics of power from Honda yet. But they have made quotes saying that the power will be more than 276 BHP.

Some sources claim that they have inside information that the engine will be able to reach 300 BHP, or maybe more. That would certainly make this one of the most highly anticipated Type R’s in a very long time. What has been confirmed by Honda is that the car will redline at 7,000 RPM. A 0 – 62 MPH time of less than 6 seconds is expected.

Honda have promised that the car will deliver a “sensational driving experience”, just like all other Type R’s have managed to do before. A four point Adaptive Damper System will be included, which was developed specifically for this model. This will allow the driver to have a more comfortable drive when in normal driving conditions. However if the driver wants to experience a more sporty type of driving, the system will adapt to this.

The fiercest way to drive the new Honda Civic Type R will be doing so in the new +R mode. Once the button is pressed, the torque mapping is tweaked to allow a more aggressive and higher performance drive. A brand new steer axis system will also be included, which will help reduce torque steer.
