Never let it be said that Nissan doesn’t spare a thought for man’s best friend.

The Japanese company has just launched what it is calling its “Paw Pack”, an accessory for its X-Trail model that allows Fido to travel home in safety and comfort after walkies in the countryside – with as little mess as possible.

The kit features six components aimed at transforming the X-Trail’s boot space into a dog-friendly travel compartment.

Featured in the kit is a dog-guard boot separator, and a ramp to help the smaller members of the canine family make the step up.

Also thrown in is a uber-comfortable dog bed (machine washable); a non-spill water bowl and a boot liner to keep the boot clean from muddy paws.

The kit also includes a tidy storage area for all dog walking accessories such as leads, treats and waste bags.

The Paw Pack costs £600 and is available for the X-Trail from all Nissan dealerships.

Grant Richards, X-Trail product manager at Nissan, said: “We’re delighted to release this innovative Paw Pack as we believe strongly that pets are important members of the family, as well as excellent travelling companions for those outdoors adventures.

“The X-Trail Paw Pack lets our beloved companions travel with all the comfort and convenience we’d expect, and we look forward to helping our customers buy the perfect car for all their family — including their dogs.”
