Peugeot reveal world’s smallest phone box 0

As more and more of us turn to the internet when buying a new car, dealerships are being forced to get more and more creative when it comes to locating their premises.

One well-known French car maker has just set a new bar in ‘eccentric’. Rival car makers will be hard pushed to come up with something to beat Peugeot’s latest idea, namely the world’s smallest dealership – located in a old-school London phone box.

Due to be open for business on 12th September, you’d be hard pressed to find a dealership more central than ‘Peugeot – Russell Square’ which boasts a forecourt measuring a spacious 0.8 metres.

Salespeople are noticeable by their absence, a tablet connected to the French company’s e-commerce portal allows potential customers to browse the line-up, configure their car, arrange a finance deal and place an order for a new car from within the phone box.

To prevent others from ‘advertising their wares’ or using the phone box for activities other than car purchasing, occupants can only access the dealership once they have gained an authorisation code from the Peugeot website.

Of course, the phone box is not entirely routed in seriousness – it is a marketing ploy to highlight Peugeot’s online e-commerce ordering system.

UK Peugeot boss David Peel, said: “Not that many years ago, the process of buying a new car involved reading lots of printed literature and trawling around Dealerships. Now, despite a car being the second-largest purchase most people make in a lifetime, it can be done from anywhere – even from inside a phone box.”
