Renault add ‘Black Edition’ to Clio RS

For a few hundred pounds, Clio RS enthusiasts can now get their hands on ‘Black Edition’ styling pads for the brand’s primary rival to Ford’s Fiesta ST.

The styling packs can be added to both the 200 and 220 Trophy versions of the Renaultsport Clio; they cost around £350 – or £200 if you have a Clio 220 Trophy, as it already comes with the 17-inch black alloy wheels included.

Included in the pack are black gloss door handles and side mouldings, a black gloss front lip in the bumper and rear diffuser. There are also black gloss badging and tailgate moulding.

There are no performance upgrades as part of the styling pack, under the bonnet remains the same – a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine feeds the front wheels through six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox with paddleshifters. Power is rated at 197bhp for the Clio 200 and 217bhp for the 220 Trophy.

The current edition of the Clio has been around for five years, first gracing our roads back in 2012. The hot Renaultsport edition followed a year later in the UK. The next hot hatch Renault plans to release will be a sibling to the RenaultSport Clio, as opposed to a direct replacement. The Megane RS will be revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
