Renault-Trezor-wins-Concept-Car-Design-awardThe Renault Trezor has won Best Concept Car of the Year at the Car Design News awards, triumphing over rivals such as Jaguar and Mercedes.

The Trezor was first revealed by the French carmaker in September last year at the Paris Motor Show, where its sleek and futuristic appearance wowed the public and press alike. It was voted best concept by a 20-strong jury which featured an assortment of experts from the motoring world.

The panel included chief design officer of Hyundai Motor Group Peter Schreyer, executive design director at Nissan Mamoru Aoki, chief design officer at Daimler Gorden Wagener, and head of design at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Ralph Gilles.

Finishing just behind the Renault Trezor was the Jaguar I-PACE in second place and the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 in third.

The Renault Trezor – considered by its makers to be an embodiment of the French carmaker’s future styling and technology – is powered by a 345bhp electric motor which allows it to go from zero to 60mph in less than four seconds.

Members of Renault’s design team received their award for the Trezor during the 2017 Geneva Motor Show which started last week.

The senior vice-president of Renault corporate design, Laurens van den Acker, said: “It’s an honour to receive this award, because it’s voted by our peers, and that’s the hardest audience to satisfy.”

A new Renault concept called the ZOE e-sport, a sporty 456bhp version of the electric supermini, was present at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.
