The story behind the Renault badge 0

The first incarnation of Renault’s iconic badge appeared in 1900; far more elaborate than the minimalist diamond we know so well today, it featured an elaborate intertwining of the Renault brothers’ (Louis, Marcel and Fernand) initials.

On the early cars, the badge took pride of place as a raised roundel on the front, allowing the sound from the horn to escape.

The badge transformed many times before the diamond was first adopted in 1925, it then morphed into the 3D version. The brand’s signature yellow was incorporated into the design in 1946 when Renault was nationalised after the Second World War.
