Nissan recall thousand of Titan pickups due to seatbelt issues

Japanese car giant Nissan has recalled thousands of Titan pickups after a defect was found with the model’s seatbelts.

The car manufacturer announced it was recalling 52,016 Nissan Titan Cab and Titan XD Crew Cab pickups, from 2016, because it had been found that the vehicle’s rear seat belts might not adequately protect passengers in the case of an accident.

The majority of the affected cars were in the US but Nissan said 7,752 were in Canada.

Nissan revealed that following tests, it had found that in a crash, there was potential for the passenger’s head to come into contact with a section of the seat belt assembly.

The company stated that to date, there had been no instances of injuries related to the defect.

Nissan said the owners of all affected vehicles would be notified and repairs would be carried out for free.
